Crédit Agricole Romania, the Romanian subsidiary of French group Crédit Agricole, has contracted a 20m euro loan, in Romanian lei equivalent, from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The credit has a maturity of five years.

The funds will be used by Crédit Agricole Romania especially for financing Agri SMEs, a vital sector of the Romanian economy.

The loan will also support Crédit Agricole Romania’s growth strategy and will help diversify the bank’s funding base, improving the currency and maturity structure of the balance sheet.

“Crédit Agricole Romania wants to become the reference bank of professional farmers and the agreement with the EBRD supports our bank in its development plans, while at the same time providing Romanian farmers with financing solutions tailored to their needs,” said Luc Beiso, CEO of Crédit Agricole Romania.
